July 2025 - Top talent trends we are seeing across Investment Management for Australia

1. Private Credit and Real Assets: Private credit and infrastructure continue to attract capital from institutional investors, and we’re seeing increased hiring activity across both sectors. The most in-demand candidates have experience in deal execution, risk and compliance, credit analysis and asset management. We’re also seeing hiring in investment risk and legal to support new fund launches and transactions.

2. AI and Automation in Investment Management We’re seeing more firms embrace AI and automation across investment management, particularly in the middle and back office. It’s early stages but there’s growing demand for talent who can support the rollout of automation tools across investment reporting, client communications and risk analytics. Some firms are also building internal AI capabilities to support investment analysis and operational decision-making.

3. Investment Data: Demand for Data and SaaS Expertise Data continues to be a focus area across the investment value chain, with a growing need for experts in business intelligence, investment data and SaaS-based platform delivery. We are seeing increased demand for data analysts and product delivery consultants who understand how to drive efficiencies using technology, particularly in relation to regulatory reporting, investment performance and data integration.

4. Expanding ETF Expertise The popularity of ETFs continues to grow, and we’re seeing an increase in firms hiring ETF specialists across product development, distribution and operations. There is particularly strong demand for professionals with experience in launching new funds, navigating ASIC regulations and executing sales in the ETF market.

5. End-to-End Service Integration There’s a strong focus on integrating front, middle, and back-office platforms, particularly as businesses seek efficiency gains and improved client experiences. We’re expecting to see hiring across investment operations and delivery teams with experience in implementing platforms that connect trading, risk, compliance, and performance reporting.
